IWEREF focuses on integrated water resource management, environmental protection, and climate resilience. We work to ensure communities have access to clean water while protecting the natural ecosystems they depend on.
How are donations utilized by the foundation?
Transparency is our core value. 85% of all donations go directly to field projects, including building solar-powered boreholes, tree planting, and community training. The remaining 15% supports essential operational oversight and impact monitoring.
Which regions does IWEREF currently operate in?
We are currently most active in Nigeria, particularly in the Niger Delta and South-Western regions. However, we are expanding our research and advocacy reach to support environmental initiatives across Sub-Saharan Africa.
How can I become a volunteer?
We welcome passionate individuals! You can apply through our Contact page. We look for volunteers in fields such as environmental science, community advocacy, digital communications, and project management.
How does IWEREF ensure the sustainability of its projects?
We use a 'Community Ownership' model. Before starting any project, we establish a local committee and provide technical training. This ensures that the infrastructure, like water systems, is maintained by the community long after our direct involvement.
